The future belongs to people who hold passports to the world beyond our borders. Studying a modern language is the ultimate study of culture. Absolute fluency is the goal-- reading, writing and speaking.
At Fort Lewis College, our professors are experts in the countries they represent. They lead small-size classes in the study of languages, cultures and literature. They offer hands-on learning opportunities, internships and field studies.
The program will immerse you in a language. We offer an International Exchange and Study Abroad program in 22 countries. Our advisors and International Programs office will guide you to find the right study abroad program for you.
Studying abroad will expand your world. You will see yourself and your community in the context of the world. Global awareness and having a global perspective are qualities that will also enhance your career opportunities.

You can also take classes in Japanese, Latin, and Navajo. Fort Lewis is one of the few colleges offering Navajo language classes.
