Music

Music majors love to perform. At Fort Lewis College, you will find plenty of opportunities and several different ensembles. You'll no doubt find a match that suits your musical interests.

Our large concert choir performs three to four times a year. Or perhaps our smaller chamber choir or Men's ensemble would interest you.

The Fort Lewis College Symphonic Band is one of Colorado's premier bands. Both faculty and students are members of the San Juan Symphony. We also feature a Jazz Ensemble and a smaller group, the Jazz Combo.

We support a Wind Ensemble and other ensembles that include Flute, Clarinet Choir, Saxophone Quartet, Woodwind Quintet, the Horn Quartet, the Brass Ensemble, the String Ensemble, the Percussion Ensemble, the Woodwork Mallet Ensemble and the Baroque Ensemble, which features performers dressed in period costumes.

Fort Lewis College also has outstanding performance and practice facilities. The Community Concert Hall is a state-of-the-art performance hall -- large enough to attract some of the finest performers touring today and small enough to offer an intimacy enjoyed by artists and audiences. The Roshong Recital Hall is an intimate facility, featuring student and faculty recitals.

Our music professors possess the highest level of performance abilities and teaching skills. These artist teachers are unequaled by any comparable college in the Rocky Mountain Region. They're committed to undergraduate education. Graduate assistants teach none of our classes.

Fort Lewis and Durango are magnets for arts-oriented activities. From the San Juan Symphony to the Four Corners Opera; this scenic mountain city and college encourage and inspire high artistic achievements.

Fort Lewis offers five options in music, each leading to a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music:
