Why study Psychology at Fort Lewis College? Unique classes, international studies and gaining admissions into graduate programs and careers are a few good reasons.

Our faculty offers a wider selection of courses on emerging issue in the field of Psychology --courses you may not find at other colleges and universities. Consider classes on Intuition, Evolutionary Psychology, Global-Community Psychology, Creativity, Group Dynamics and Environmental Psychology, to name a few.

You can also learn about the history of Psychology by traveling to its origins in Europe. A Psychology of Globalization course includes travel to China, India and Nepal.

The Psychology Department also offers a field school in clinical psychology in which students participate with a psychiatric team at Napa State Hospital in Napa, CA. This experience enhances your chances of gaining admissions into graduate school or starting your career.

Each year, the Rocky Mountain Psychological Association invites students to present their work at its Regional Conference. Over the past few years, students have completed Distinguished Scholar Papers with titles such as "Competitive Stress and Coping, A Look at the Importance of Coping Strategies and Competition in College Athletes"; "Herbal Tea and How it Affects One's Mood"; "A Plethora of Programs for Parents in a Pinch", "A Case Study of the Family Center in Durango"; and "Father-Daughter Relationships and its Effect on Academic Achievement and Self-Esteem."
