Student Constructed Major

Fort Lewis College allows students the unique opportunity to create their own major.

Students who construct their own majors are usually very focused and goal oriented. They know what they want. So they design a major to meet their specific needs.

Developing a student-constructed major requires advance planning. There are policies that must be observed to ensure your degree plan meets our standards for academic quality. To declare a Self-Constructed Major, you will need to work closely with the Self-Constructed Major coordinator to develop a plan, which must then be approved by the academic dean that supervises the program.

If you're interested in a one-of-a-kind major, choose Fort Lewis. We focus on liberal arts, small classes and personal attention. We're the alternative to the big university. And the Durango community offers open spaces, mountains and desert terrain.
