Southwest Studies

This is where people come to study the Southwest. Fort Lewis College offers more resources than most other colleges and universities in the Southwest.

Ask some of the 35,000 people who visit Fort Lewis College Center of Southwest Studies each year. This facility is a regional center that has put the college on the map for history-minded students, historians and researchers

It houses the Robert Delaney Southwest Research Library, which has more than 160,000 photographs, hundreds of maps, and over 12,000 volumes on the Southwest.

With this major, you'll learn about the regions distinct environments and diverse cultures. By accessing the center's thousands of artifacts, photographs and art, you'll gain a broad-base and in-depth knowledge of our region.

You'll study Anthropology, Art, Literature, History and Sociology. In addition to offering a major in Southwest Studies, Fort Lewis also offers minors in Southwest Studies and American Indian Studies.
