How High School Seniors can prepare for college
Here is a monthly pre-college calendar and checklist. Simply click on the month below.

Complete your application essay.
If you haven't already, take the ACT and/or SAT.
Register online. Contact the Fort Lewis Testing Center for information.
Complete and submit college applications. Apply online for Fort Lewis College. We review applications in the order we receive them.

Visit Fort Lewis College. Talk with students, faculty and staff. Eat lunch at the River Rock Cafe.

Learn about residentail housing options and special theme housing such as the FLC Living Learning Communities.

If necessary, consider retaking your
ACT and/or SAT to improve your index score.
Fort Lewis requires a 92 index or higher -- a combination of your test score and grade point average -- to be considered for admissions.
Complete college applications. At Fort Lewis, you can apply online or download a printable copy of our application.

Review application deadlines for scholarships at your top college choices.
Conintue to participate in college fairs and meet with admisson counselors. Check the Admission Calendar for dates on when we are in your area.
If you attend a Colorado high school, apply for the College Opportunity Fund. This fund gives you a stipend to cover some tuition expenses.

Parents need to have income tax forms prepared immediately.
Once completed, you can compete your FAFSA application online.

Watch the mail for your Admission decision letters, which are generally sent 4-6 weeks after receiving your application.
Housing applications are available online for admitted students. If you apply early, you'll have more choices in residential halls.

Fort Lewis Office of Admission will send you a letter about your admission. It generally takes 4-6 weeks after receiving your application.
Watch the mail for your Fort Lewis College Preview Weekend invitation, which is sent to all admitted students.

If you haven't received a decision letter about your application, contact your Admission Counselor to see if there is missing information in your application.
The three most common missing documents include:
ACT or SAT scores
High School transcripts
$30 application fee
If we have accepted your application, Fort Lewis will send you an acceptance package that includes your PIN and password.
If you haven't already, register to attend Preview Weekend for Admitted Students.

With your PIN and password, you can apply for campus housing on-line. (Remember: Your password is your birthdate mmddyy. You will be asked to change it after you log in for the first time.)
The Office of Financial Aid will send your financial aid award about 4-6 weeks after Feb. 15th or after you electronically submit the FAFSA to the Dept. of Education.
Watch the mail for your Student Aid Report from the Federal Student Aid Programs. Return the form, indicating that you accept the scholarship.

Ask your High School to send us your final high school transcripts.
