Work Integrated Learning (WIL) is work experiencethat provides academic credit and relates to your major. A faculty advisor and work supervisor will guide you in your work experience.
Also called Career Related Experience, this program allows you to explore career options while you are in college. It puts you in the work environment that you want to pursue. It helps you explore, learn, and clarify your career decisions.
All students are encouraged to build WIL into their academic plans. Two or more experiences will reflect on your resume, increasing your chances of being hired into a position of your choice.
As a first year student, you may want explore a couple of career alternatives simply by volunteering or taking a part time job in the area that you are considering for a career.
As a sophomore or junior you can take a step up and begin working, for pay or not, in a career related experience that carries more responsibilities and requires greater level of skills. As you approach your senior year, you'll find your experiences are important hiring tools.
You can explore, learn, and clarify your career decisions with career related experiences. Several students have worked at the Rocky Mountain Chocolate headquarters, located in Durango.
